5 Skoler
Newsletter December 2024

Dear Member of 5 Skoler,

The past few months at 5 Skoler have been challenging. The war in Beirut, where we have two schools, has deeply affected us personally but especially our students and our team. We have been in close daily contact with them, trying to spread energy and hope as much as possible.

We used the school kitchen to prepare meals for the families of our students and for the internally displaced people living on the streets. Our team organized daily activities at the school for the children who dropped by. We also distributed mattresses, hygiene kits, and blankets.

It has meant so much to our staff to come together around something meaningful in a time when fear is so pervasive. This truly highlights the advantage of being a small organization that can adapt to circumstances immediately.

Now, with the ceasefire in place, the schools have reopened, and our teachers are ready with activities to bring students together, address the difficult times, and hopefully help ease the fear that still lingers within them.

At the beginning of December, we were invited to a meeting at the Nine United Foundation, where they surprised us by awarding us their Honorary Prize 2024. It was overwhelming, and the recognition embodied in such an award—acknowledging our work in this way—means so much to us. The prize included 50,000 DKK for our work. What a wonderful way to close out 2024.

We have created this small Christmas greeting for you here.

May you all have a peaceful Christmas and New Year, and may 2025 be filled with peace.

Warm regards,

Zarah and Maren
